All the match venues for 2019 are now confirmed and in the Diary
The first match set for the beginning of April is now not far away, so we need to finalize details on how you would like the club run.
We have picked a location that that is hopefully quick and easy to get to for everyone.
Acton Gate just off J14 M6
7th March – 7pm
Hope to see everyone there
Congratulations to Ray Lightfoot who is yet another member of the Red Horses 100’s club hall of fame catching well over 100lb to win the match on Heronbrook’s Bridge pool.
The top 4 weights in fact were all over 100 lb, which is itself another landmark for our little club.
We have to to go out on a limb financially, booking matches at Heronbrook so:-
A Big Thank You! to everyone who attended.
No club match this coming Sunday – next match 16th September at the Willows.
This week we are at Heronbrook on the Bridge pool, which apparently has:-
“Bin’ Fishing it’s Ed Off”
So with fine weather forcast we are hoping for a really good turnout.
Heronbrook is a venue where we have to pay booking deposits and comit to a minimum number of pegs – so if you can possibly make it to this one, it would be very much appreciated.
A particular shout out to anyone that has not fished with us for a while: –
“Don’t be shy – you will be very welcome”
We have simplified and upgraded the club website name.
Hopefully this should make the site more secure from online ads and pop-ups.
Any links you have saved/bookmarked will re-direct automatically.
Anyone interested in a net bag Before i list this on Ebay – let me know & I’ll bring it on Sunday. Spec:-
Daiwa Aqua Dry Keepnet Carrier
Designed to completely retain the water from nets the Aqua Dry bags use durable, waterproof EVA with heat welded seams.
60cm x 18cm x 55cm
With incidences of the KHV Carp Virus arising many fisheries are getting stricter on rules surrounding keepnets.
So that we do not fall foul of this, we have now updated our rules accordingly.
- Where there are dipping tanks at the fishery – all nets must be dipped (Whether they are dry or not).
- Nets must be laid out and not put in the water until 10 minutes before the all in.
In order to remind us all, a 10 minute warning will be sounded prior to the “all in” signal.
This weeks venue is Horns Pool which is situated behind the Horns Pub at Slitting Mill (WS15 2UW). Approximately 3 miles further on from Carneys (if you are traveling from the Stafford direction that is)
The track to the left hand side of the pub, takes you down to the car park by the pool.
Hopefully the wont close the roads again and we will all be able to get there.
See you all there on Sunday
Congratulations to Darren Titley who is the latest angler to qualify as a member of the Red Horses’ prestigious “100 club”.
Our Hall of Fame recognizes Members who have “Done the Ton” and recorded weights of 100lb or more in a match.
Darren caught a weight of 116lb 2oz from the Willows Spring Pool Penkridge.
This is one of our venues that often produes big weights in Red Horses matches and true to form yesterday’s match resulted in the top three anglers all weighing in over 100lb.
Just drove back from South Devon today but looking forward to jumping back in the car down to the Willows tomorrow.

Hope to see you all there in the morning
