New Inductee of “100 Club” Hall of Fame

hall of fameCongratulations to Darren Titley who is the latest angler to qualify as a member of the Red Horses’ prestigious “100 club”.

Our Hall of Fame recognizes Members who have “Done the Ton” and recorded weights of 100lb or more in a match.

Darren caught a weight of 116lb 2oz from the Willows Spring Pool Penkridge.

This is one of our venues that often produes big weights in Red Horses matches and true to form  yesterday’s match resulted in the top three anglers all weighing in over 100lb.

I dropped in at the venue on Thursday (a warm sunny day) and saw countless carp basking and cruising on top.

Chatting with the bailiff he told me 112lb won Wednesdays match – mainly F1s with carp taken in the margins later on mostly caught on meat. Other methods he recommended were pellet shallow and also paste,  particularly on the deeper – siltier side of the lake, if it starts to fizz.

Hope to see you all there on Sunday

When is a Lake not a “Lake”

Answer: When it is a “Pool”

cafe

I have been reliably informed; by those that know this venue well, that there is both a Match “Lake” and a Match “Pool” (Although Heronbrook’s Website does not have the Pool listed) so to correct my previous post:-

It is the Match Pool that we are fishing this Sunday.

The form on this Pool indicates that we should still be aiming for 100lb for a win with over 50lb for a place – so still a good days fishing to be had

Apologies for any confusion

Match Rules Update

A copy for members who were not at the Willows Match last Sunday

fitness-rules

It is the responsibility of each angler to make themselves aware of the latest rules which can be found on the club website and on venue notice boards. Common sense should be exercised, to ensure that both the letter and the spirit of the rules are complied with. Where fishery rules are unclear or open to question, agreement amongst the match anglers at the event will be sought; ultimately the match official’s decision will be final. The club rules should be considered a basic platform for each match and not setting out to restrict an angler’s choice of; bait, method or style, prejudiciously or to supersede the fishery rules.

Club Rules

  • All members must make themselves available to assist the match official in the running of each event.
  • All peg and pool fees must be paid before the draw
  • Angler will draw their own peg – late arrivals will be drawn last; if necessary by the match official.
  • If there are fewer pegs available to the club, than anglers wanting to fish them, priority will be given to regular attendees.
  • Any angler claiming to have an unfishable peg may; at the discretion of the match official, be allowed to move to a fishable peg.
  • Floats, lines and weights etc. may enter the water before the start but no bait of any kind may be introduced.
  • Only one line and hook to be used at any one time.
  • Only barbless hooks to be used (no micro-barb or pinched down barbs)
  • Floating bait must not be introduced either as feed or on the hook. Anything that remains on the surface for longer than a few seconds is considered floating bait. Anglers must ensure that the bait they are using, is prepared and maintained in such a way that it meets these requirements.
  • If you leave your peg during the match, every effort must be made to prevent disturbance to other anglers and their swim, by keeping well back from the water’s edge etc.
  • The division line between swims is to be considered as, equal distance between the two pegs (either adjacent or across). Where there is a spare peg between anglers, then the line will considered to be up to the side of that platform nearest the angler.
  • Any fish caught that appears to be over 15lb, must be weighed immediately and returned; not kept in a Keepnet.
  • All fishing must stop immediately upon the whistle/ “all out”.
  • Anglers must alert the match official to any fish they are still playing at the end.
  • Any fish still not landed before the weigh in reaches them will not be counted.
  • Any angler considered by the match official, to be in breach of the rules will not be weighed in.
  • Match officials have the right to inspect angler’s equipment and bait to ensure compliance.
  • Any angler that repeatedly breaks the rules or whose behaviour is: in the view of the Club Officials; damaging the club, will not be permitted to fish future matches.
  • All club rules are open to review and amendment, by the membership at the club AGM.
  • Club official positions are open for election at the AGM, to any current member.
