The ban on match fishing has now been lifted by the government
The first official match of our season will be at Carney’s on Sunday 7th June 2020 (The Willows is still not open)
There is however an open match arranged this Sunday at Carney’s which quite a few members will be fishing.
If you would like to book a peg for this please ring Tom on 07868 014577
Just a quick update to let everyone know that Willows Fishery Penkridge has been closed to all fishing until further notice.
We are attempting to arrange an alternative booking for Sunday 31/05/20
We asked Carneys for an Upgrade to the Damsel Pool this Sunday and they have agreed, giving our club sole use. Originally there was a Saturday open match arranged for the day before on Damsel, which would have ruled this out. Although Dragon holds some bigger fish, Damsel is more heavily stocked and will also provide us with more room.
For everyone’s safety and In the interest of fairness, pegs will be drawn for you, and payments will be taken by contactless debit or credit card. (please make sure you bring an appropriate method of payment)
If you can try to arrive between 08:30 & 9:00; as soon as you have paid and received a number, you can proceed with your kit to your peg and start fishing whenever you are ready.
I hope like me you are all looking forward to a safe and enjoyable days fishing
You will be pleased to know, the club has secured the booking of Carney’s Dragon Pool for SMFC members. who wish to fish there this Sunday 17/05/20
Naturally, those fishing on Sunday should abide by current social distancing rules, and as such there will be no competition organized. Detailed guidance has been published by the Angling Trust and can be found here
For your safety and security, payment for membership fees (for those not yet paid) and peg fees will be taken by either Paypal or contactless card payment.
We are proposing a £15 Peg Fee (a rebate will be paid back with sufficient numbers)
Please let either Neville or myself know if you would like a peg.
As you may have seen from various articles in the media particularly those from the Anglers Trust, there is a strong possibility that fishing may open up in the not too distant future.
The Staffordshire Match Fishing Club has existing bookings at various fisheries and over the coming days and weeks, we will be attempting to confirm that these remain in place for us to take up, albeit on a “Non-Match” basis.
As soon as we have confirmed these bookings, we will be in contact, to inform you of opportunities for us all to go fishing again.
