Match 7 Border Fisheries Meridian Pool

Match number 7 of the season saw us visit Border Fisheries in Crewe…. a lovely-looking venue new to most of us…

The weather was hot with a light breeze.

11 anglers for this match

With the weather being so hot and the fish spawning this turned out to be a difficult day for many…

The Carp just weren’t interested .. cruising around In pairs and sometimes 3 or 4 were seen together …

For 1 of us, the day went from bad to worse

Simon Griffin lost his number 3 to the pool and almost lost his coffee cup..luckily Jamie Martin was there with a spare number 3 to lend …

1st ..Darren Titley 43 lb.3

2nd Aleister Crowley 41lb.12

3rd Lee Cartwright 34lb.5

Darren. started the match off to the far bank ..fishing corn. His 1st fish came within 10 minutes…wasn’t a monster but turned out to be the fish that won it for him ..( maybe not that fish but could have been any )

He fed the margins to his left and caught there as well..fishing corn ..looked like he had some. Nice fish.

Before going back long and having some joy..he went back to the margins and was starting to draw them in …

Unfortunately, I have no info on our runner-up Aleister…I did hear him say he foul-hooked a few and lost about 15 fish …I will update this when I get a chance…

Lee didn’t have the best of starts ..early on fished long but nothing was happening for him fishing corn to the far bank where it was quite rocky …he came short and went to kit n 1 in front of him ..he tried the margin early ..but it wasn’t really happening for him..till late on catching down the margins on 6m pellet and micros as the match was ending but it was that last hour that helped him into 3rd…

Jamie really had an off day by his standard ..hooking fish losing fish..smashing 5 rigs in the process and hooking a duck..and then right on The hooter hooked into his biggest of the day only to go and lose it after a few minutes

Bit of a hard day for everyone as the weights can tell you …

Well done to our winners .and well done to everyone for their efforts..just a pity..if the fish weren’t spawning I reckon the weights would have doubled.
