Another “Ton Up”

Congratulations to Ray Lightfoot who is yet another member of the Red Horses 100’s club hall of fame catching well over 100lb to win the match on Heronbrook’s Bridge pool.

hall of fame

The top 4 weights in fact were all over 100 lb, which is itself another landmark for our little club.

We have to to go out on a limb financially, booking matches at Heronbrook so:-

A Big Thank You! to everyone who attended.

Match Rules Update – Keepnets

virus-inks

With incidences of the KHV Carp Virus arising many fisheries are getting stricter on rules surrounding keepnets.

So that we do not fall foul of this, we have now updated our rules accordingly.

  • Where there are dipping tanks at the fishery – all nets must be dipped (Whether they are dry or not).
  • Nets must be laid out and not put in the water until 10 minutes before the all in.

In order to remind us all, a 10 minute warning will be sounded prior to the “all in” signal.

New Inductee of “100 Club” Hall of Fame

hall of fameCongratulations to Darren Titley who is the latest angler to qualify as a member of the Red Horses’ prestigious “100 club”.

Our Hall of Fame recognizes Members who have “Done the Ton” and recorded weights of 100lb or more in a match.

Darren caught a weight of 116lb 2oz from the Willows Spring Pool Penkridge.

This is one of our venues that often produes big weights in Red Horses matches and true to form  yesterday’s match resulted in the top three anglers all weighing in over 100lb.

When is a Lake not a “Lake”

Answer: When it is a “Pool”

cafe

I have been reliably informed; by those that know this venue well, that there is both a Match “Lake” and a Match “Pool” (Although Heronbrook’s Website does not have the Pool listed) so to correct my previous post:-

It is the Match Pool that we are fishing this Sunday.

The form on this Pool indicates that we should still be aiming for 100lb for a win with over 50lb for a place – so still a good days fishing to be had

Apologies for any confusion

Good Weather for Bream & Bonus Carp

bream

Don’t forget that we kick off the season early this year with a match booked on Capricious Pool – Blake Hall this coming Sunday.

With mild overcast weather forecast for the weekend it should be good conditions for  Bream and some bonus carp.

We will be meeting at the hut as usual but with the later draw at 9:30 there should also be time for a crafty bacon butty and a brew.

Hope to see you all there

Silver Fish Event

blake hall sign

The last match of the season is traditionally a silver fish match; as the colder weather reduces the reliability of carp being caught in most pegs.

This is a welcome opportunity to target a wider variety of fish to keep the bites coming.

By popular request this year we have booked Blake hall fisheries which has a high stocking level of silvers.

With the recent heavy rain, now having subsided and the colder drier weather forecast for Sunday 9th November the roach and bream should be switched on ready for a good days fishing.

As you know; Alan the match secretary, puts in a lot of effort each year,  providing prizes for everyone at the event and we hope you will all be be able to attend and show your support.

The draw is 08:30 as normal at the Cafe – fishing the Blake Pool
