Heronbrook Fisheries Island Pool – May 21st

Our 6th match of the season saw us at Heronbrook Fisheries on the Island Pool.

Sun was beaming .19 degrees most of the day with a light breeze .. a glorious day for fishing …and it proved to be very productive….

11 fished and all but 1 had a good day fishing …

1st …Lee Cartwright. 125 lb .2

2nd… Adam Harborow. 124lb. 14

3rd… Jack Johnson… 83lb.8

Lee told. me he started off fishing feeder to the island but quickly put that to bed as he saw Adam catching short ..so he quickly took his top kit and fished in front of him ..catching his first fish feeding little and often ..catching on corn…… not long in to the session he turned to his right to hit the margins has he could see the fish churning the water …Lee fished corn over micros but all that did was to cause foul hookers or just kicking the bottom up ..he went on corn only and feed corn …which did the job catching all day in the margins..every now n then he’d fish in front of him ..but the margins is where he won the match by a few ounces …( not the 1st time he’s beat someone by a few ounces …I’d know ..)

And to win the match with 125 lb is a great result..

Adam fished 6 & 8 mm meat catching short whilst he fed my shallow line at 13 meters – 18″ deep was best using a long lash to keep it away from the pole – missed loads of fast biting F1s but picked up some big carp (biggest around 12lb) – he found that fishing away from my feed area either 11m or 14.5m produced the better fish – kept dropping back to his short line periodically which also came good – spent the last hour in a margin 12- 24″ deep with little success with micros as the fish just kicked up the bottom – let it settle and fished over a pile of 6mm meat and hooked an 8 pounder on the whistle..producing 124.14

Jack fished pellet shallow on the pole and corn and micros down the edge. Both producing fish ..he was catching Steady through the day

Average stamp f1s with 3 or 4 8lb carp

He fought off some good competition to finish 3rd as Neville Duke started off really well in the 1st hour fishing the next peg to him catching a good 81lb.7

And Steve Hanson who had 82lb.15

4th Steve Hanson 82lb.15

5th Neville Duke 81lb.7

6th Jamie Martin 73lb.2

7th.Simon Griffin 72lb.10

8th Aleister Crowley 70lb.15

9th Jim Coates 45lb.11

10th Phil streaker 41lb.3.

Trevor gear DNW

shout out to Jim who finally managed to get 2 nets in the water and pick up the wooden spoon ..

Massive well done to the top 3 but also well done to everyone who fished …can honestly say finishing 7th I was happy to be catching and I’m sure everyone who fished really enjoyed the day …

On to the next match in 2 weeks where we visit a new venue border Fisheries on the meridian canal..

Tight lines if you’re fishing over the bank holiday weekend ..see you all at Border Fisheries….
