Horns Pool – WS15 2UW

This weeks venue is Horns Pool which is situated behind the Horns Pub at Slitting Mill (WS15 2UW). Approximately 3 miles further on from Carneys (if you are traveling from the Stafford direction that is)

Horns Inn

The track to the left hand side of the pub, takes you down to the car park by the pool.

I dropped in at the venue on Thursday (a warm sunny day) and saw countless carp basking and cruising on top.

Chatting with the bailiff he told me 112lb won Wednesdays match – mainly F1s with carp taken in the margins later on mostly caught on meat. Other methods he recommended were pellet shallow and also paste,  particularly on the deeper – siltier side of the lake, if it starts to fizz.

Hope to see you all there on Sunday

When is a Lake not a “Lake”

Answer: When it is a “Pool”

I have been reliably informed; by those that know this venue well, that there is both a Match “Lake” and a Match “Pool” (Although Heronbrook’s Website does not have the Pool listed) so to correct my previous post:-

It is the Match Pool that we are fishing this Sunday.

The form on this Pool indicates that we should still be aiming for 100lb for a win with over 50lb for a place – so still a good days fishing to be had

Apologies for any confusion

2018 Matches – AGM

Its February, which means its RedHorses AGM time.

This will be your first opportunity to take a look at the Matches Booked for the 2018 Season, in addition to discussing proposals raised on the running of the club.

One or two changes are already proposed for this year, which will hopefully make the fishing experience even more enjoyable for us all. We welcome everyone’s input so please let us know any topics that, you would like to see discussed at the meeting.

Let us have your suggestions over the next 7 days by replying to this email or posting a comment on the website; we can then circulate copies of the Agenda and confirm the date and time of the meeting to everyone in good time.

Hope to see you all at the meeting, the new season is just round the corner.

An opportunity to join the 100 club

IMG_3924By all accounts last weeks weights on Blake Hall Capricious turned out to be more than a little dissapointing.

Catches on this Sundays venue promise something better and perhaps even an opportunity to join the illustrious 100 club.

The canal pool has been producing many weights around the 100lb mark in recent open matches and  although not massive weights by Herobrook standards; a welcome antidote in prospect for last weeks dissapointments

Hope to see you all there this Sunday

30th August Change of Venue

Due to poor fishing at the venue booked the club has changed the match water for 30th August 2015. We will now be at Heronbrook Fishery Newcastle Road Slindon, Staffordshire ST21 6LX

Rules of the fishery are fairly relaxed with all methods and most baits allowed, but noticeably require each angler to have Three keepnets in the water from the start.

Member who own more than three nets and are willing to lend out their spare ones; please make themselves known to anyone who needs an extra net; I have one spare one to lend out.

The fishery also requires us to reserve and commit to the numbers booked, so please confirm with Alan Duke whether you will be attending or not.

This is a well stocked fishery so should provide good fishing for all members.
