I dropped in at the venue on Thursday (a warm sunny day) and saw countless carp basking and cruising on top.

Chatting with the bailiff he told me 112lb won Wednesdays match – mainly F1s with carp taken in the margins later on mostly caught on meat. Other methods he recommended were pellet shallow and also paste,  particularly on the deeper – siltier side of the lake, if it starts to fizz.

Hope to see you all there on Sunday

have-your-say_-_copy

Its February, which means its RedHorses AGM time.

This will be your first opportunity to take a look at the Matches Booked for the 2018 Season, in addition to discussing proposals raised on the running of the club.

One or two changes are already proposed for this year, which will hopefully make the fishing experience even more enjoyable for us all. We welcome everyone’s input so please let us know any topics that, you would like to see discussed at the meeting.

Let us have your suggestions over the next 7 days by replying to this email or posting a comment on the website; we can then circulate copies of the Agenda and confirm the date and time of the meeting to everyone in good time.

Hope to see you all at the meeting, the new season is just round the corner.

What a Difference a Week Makes

The start of the season at Blake Hall on the 1st May and it was Blustery Cold and Wet. Fast forward to the 8th and we were basking in Full Sun and 25° Heat at Izaak Walton Fisheries on the Canal Pool.

The carp were cruising around in groups ready for spawning, so for some it was a frustrating day.

Derek Taylor and Steve Randle: with 73lb & 49lb respectively; showed however that a good weight could still had.

carneys

It’s Carneys on the Damsel pool next week; a favorite with many anglers as good weights are always on the cards given favourable conditions.

We have had one or two enquiries from potential new members who may be joining us there as guests. I am sure they will be made to feel most welcome (general abuse and banter being reserved for more established members).

Hope to see you all bright and early next Sunday

Change of Venue 13th September 2015

Our scheduled match for 13th September 2015; originally set for Chebsey, has had to be changed, due to double booking by the management at Izaak Walton fisheries.

Thanks to last minute negotiations by Alan Duke, the match has now been relocated to the Willow’s Spring Pool near Penkridge.

Normal Willows rules apply

New Members Laying Down A Challenge

podiumCongratulations to both Andy Willacy & John Smalman who between them have won three of our opening six matches; in addition to featuring top three at the others.

It is nice to see some of our newer members featuring strongly in the match results and laying down a challenge to the rest of us by their performance.

Our next match is at the Willows near Penkridge, directions for which can be found here.

Rock Hard Conditions for the Opening Match

923-circle-shape-2015-Vector-Calendar-template

A good turnout at the first match on the Canal Pool – Izaak Walton Fisheries, went largely unrewarded with low weights and plenty of dry nets.

After an unseasonably warm start to spring; the recent cold snap and heavy rain had put a stop to the good form previously shown on the canal pool. The opener was won by Alan Duke with just short of 20lb of fish, falling to maggot.

A warm welcome to our three new guest anglers fishing with us for the first time. Hopefully the poor conditions won’t have put you off joining our club fellas –  the venues normally fish a lot better than this – honest!

Any new anglers that would like to be our guest at the next match, you need only pay the £10 peg fee for your first time with us; before deciding whether to join the club. (£16 P.A membership)
